Roswell Pro Audio Cab Mic - Effortless Guitar Cabinet Microphone
The Roswell Cab Mic was designed to be a point-and-shoot solution for recording electric guitar cab. It is voiced like a ribbon mic, with a soft top end, to eliminate harshness in the 5-6kHz region. It has a solid bottom end, without the wooliness that can happen with some ribbon mics. But it retains the detail and clarity of a condenser mic.
Unlike popular dynamic mics, the Cab Mic was designed to be pointed at the exact center of the dust cap. That is the point of the speaker’s maximum excursion, maximum articulation, and minimum distortion.
This placement captures the detail that you’d normally get from an off-axis dynamic, and the bottom end that you’d get from a ribbon or condenser placed elsewhere on the cone — without the risk of phase problems or comb filtering. This placement is also very easily recalled from one session to the next. There is no more need for a joystick controlled robot to micro-adjust the mic position to find the best tone.
