The IGS Audio ZEN is a stereo mastering and bus compressor built around the legendary Zener diode compression circuit used in Abbey Road Studios during the golden era of The Beatles. This 2U rackmount unit delivers the smooth, musical glue and harmonic richness of vintage diode compression with modern precision. Featuring 14 bi-polar transistors per channel, 8 hand-matched Zener diodes, stepped controls, and transformer-balanced I/O, the ZEN offers exceptional depth, cohesion, and character for mastering, mix bus, drums, bass, vocals, and group processing — all with the iconic Abbey Road sound.

Zener Diode Compression

The ZEN uses a unique Zener diode-based compression stage with perfect feedback control, providing smooth, transparent gain reduction with rich harmonic coloration. The variable ratio (dependent on input level) and limiter mode allow everything from gentle buss glue to hard limiting. Stepped attack (8–100 ms ×4) and release (10–2000 ms ×4) times, plus a high-pass filter (60/90/120/240 Hz), give precise control over dynamics and low-end pumping.
