The Cranborne Audio Brick Lane MC4 is a 2U rackmount 4-channel dynamics processor that redefines analogue compression with Modal PWM architecture. Each channel features a Modal PWM compressor with six harmonically-enriched saturation styles and an enhanced analogue lookahead noise gate, delivering ultra-fast, transparent control with musical character. With mono, stereo, Mid/Side, Series, Dual-Band, and De-Esser modes, plus USB/network recall and a 5” colour TFT display, the MC4 adapts to tracking, mixing, mastering, and live use, offering vintage warmth and modern precision in one powerful unit.
Modal PWM Compression
Brick Lane MC4’s Modal PWM architecture uses pulse-width modulation to create six distinct compression modes (Velvet, Float, Smash, Tame, Glue, Polish), each with unique ballistic, harmonic, and saturation behaviour. The Stress control dynamically introduces multi-band analogue saturation tailored to each mode, transforming compression into a creative tool. Analogue lookahead provides true zero-attack control, ensuring surgical transient shaping without clipping or pumping.
Versatile Processing Modes
Configure channels for mono, linked stereo, or Mid/Side processing. Series mode chains two channels for layered dynamics; Dual-Band mode splits low/high frequencies for targeted control; De-Esser mode uses lookahead for smooth sibilance reduction. Four external sidechain inputs and per-channel inserts enable advanced routing, including external hardware integration and inter-channel dynamics relationships.
