The MixPhone Mp1 Triple Play Personal Monitor with Vari-Voice is the first ever multiple use headphone, suitable for use in the live sound, DJ, studio recording, mixing playback and listening applications. The unique design allows the user to move between normal neutrally voiced stereo field, monaural (mono), and a specially contoured "mix" mode that focuses the midrange frequencies to simulate the sound of our Mixcubes and allow better articulation of critical mix frequencies.

Include 2 cables, both removable by unscrewing the threaded connection at the headphone. One straight 3m cable and one spring collapsible 1m cable. Both are professionally terminated in 1/8" trs connectors with included threaded adaptors for 1/4" trs use.
What We Think
The MP1 sound very, very nice. Their versatility is useful for sure, even if you just want to check a mix in mono they can do that stand alone. The "focus" mode thins out the bottom somewhat and has a more midrange presentation, which is designed to emulate the MixCube experience. Either way these headphones have a very wide bandwidth and smooth tone. Another important note is that there is no discernible "fail point" built in, like most headphones (the biggest concern is an easy place for the headband to break on many designs) and they actually used metal parts to connect the driver housings to the headband. This leads us to think they will last a very, very long time also. Solid build also brings some weight to them, they are not a lightweight pair. Kudos to Avantone for launching a winner!
