J-LAB JLA3 Optical 500 Compressor Description

The JLA-3 is designed for use in demanding professional audio applications such as recording, broadcast and touring sound systems.
In a compact 500-series module format the JLA-3 achieves the compression characteristics of widely accepted vintage optical compressors using a long-life interchangeable JT-5 optical gain reduction block for high performance, low power consumption and low heat generation. The sidechain IN/OUT switch disables gain reduction and the LIMIT/COMPRESS switch increases the compression ratio in limit mode for tighter peak limiting. The transformer-balanced input and output assure optimal noise rejection from long lines and provide the same input and output level performance in balanced or unbalanced applications. Internal jumpers allow the user to configure the module for low or high gain mode, unbalanced input, and input pin assignment for use with various rack and console configurations.
"Fast" and "Aggressive" models of plug-in optical blocks are available to custom-tailor the compression curve and timing for a wide variety of applications.
