Beyerdynamic MC 930 Stereo Set Description

In stock and shipping NOW!

Matched pair of MC930 microphones, includes hard case, low profile shock mounts and windscreens.

This high-quality, universal condenser microphone features an exceptional price/performance ratio.Features of the MC 930 are the wide frequency response of 40 - 20,000 Hz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 71 dB.

The MC 930 is suitable for miking choirs, orchestras and solo instruments. Due to the switchable pre-attenuation of 15 dB it provides excellent performance at high sound pressure levels. The switchable bass roll-off filter with 6 dB/Octave at 250 Hz compensates for proximity effects. With the WS 101 wind screen the MC 930 can be used for vocal applications and speech. The MC 930 is phantom powered (11 - 52 V) and is suitable for live
applications and installations.

Due to its cardioid polar pattern, the MC 930 has a high-gain-before feedback and eliminates noise from the rear. It is not only a first-class tool for studios, but also for sound contracting systems, where excellent sound and maximum gain-before-feedback is required.

Beyerdynamic MC930 Review / See All ZenPro Audio Reviews Here: Review Page

Small, lightweight and a fairly non-reflective black paint job help the MC930 hide in the shadows if used on stage. Cardioid patterned with exceptionally smooth off axis response (read “nice bleed”), a hi-pass filter and -15dB pad, this mic truly excels at delivering a rich tone and air-y space in a very tight way.

On drum overheads they pull a lot of the space between the drums out, offering an air-y space around the kit. However, the off axis rejection is very strong (I have used them on drum kits that were 3’ from the piano and the piano is hardly audible) and it has a very predictable pattern. The mids are gentle pulled back, and low end response is moderately good (not boomy, but full enough for anything reasonably close mic’d). The top end isn’t exactly bright but it is detailed and spacious, yet focused.

Conclusion: The MC930 is a bit of a sleeper in my opinion, and delivers a smooth and spacious sound that is unique. For drum overheads, acoustic sources and as a room mic or on stage, the MC930 is kind of one of those “can’t go wrong” mics from “that other German mic company”.

Very good microphones.

The Beyerdynamic MC930 is a really nice sounding microphone. It has a sound very similar to the Neumann KM184, but with a top end that it a little more subtle and smooth. Personally I now prefer the sound of the MC930 having used (and liked) the KM184 in the past. I had been looking for a stereo pair for use on acoustic guitars, piano, drum overheads and ensemble recordings. The MC930 was one of those microphones that was consistently praised in the forums, and I can happily say that it lives up to the praise. It is a sound that requires very little work with EQ or compression to get a great sound that works even in a dense mix. Thanks again Warren for your great service and super quick delivery all the way out to me in Sydney.
